The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers. 1 Who are humble in their prayers, 2 and from idle talk turn away 3 those who pay the zakat; 4 And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 5 except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. 6 As for those who seek beyond that, they are transgressors" 7 And those who of their trusts and covenant are keepers. 8 And those who of their prayers are observant. 9 These are indeed the inheritors. 10 Who will inherit paradise. There they will abide. 11 And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. 12 Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; 13 Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create! 14 Thereafter you will certainly die 15 Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up. 16 And assuredly We created above you seven paths, and of the creation We have not been neglectful. 17 And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease). 18 Then We cause to grow thereby gardens of palm trees and grapes for you; you have in them many fruits and from them do you eat; 19 The tree that grows on Mount Sinai yields oil and seasoning for those who eat. 20 And verily in the cattle for you is a lesson. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are advantages many, and of them ye eat. 21 And on them and on the ship ye are borne. 22
