The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Prosperous are the believers 1 who are submissive to God in their prayers, 2 those who turn away from all that is frivolous; 3 pay their religious tax 4 And who guard their private parts, 5 Except from their wives and women slaves of old are free of blame, 6 but those who seek to go beyond that are transgressors -- 7 And those who keep proper regard for their trusts and their pledges. 8 And who pay heed to their prayers. 9 Those are the inheritors 10 Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever). 11 And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. 12 Then We made him a small seed in a firm resting-place, 13 and then We create out of the drop of sperm a germ-cell, and then We create out of the germ-cell an embryonic lump, and then We create within the embryonic lump bones, and then We clothe the bones with flesh - and then We bring [all] this into being as a new creation: hallowed, therefore, is God, the best of artisans! 14 And then you will certainly die, 15 and then, behold! you shall be raised from the dead on Resurrection Day. 16 And indeed, We have created above you seven [celestial] orbits: and never are We unmindful of [any aspect of Our] creation. 17 We sent down water from the sky in due measure and lodged it in the earth, but if We please, We have the power to take it away, 18 With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment),- 19 And We also produced the tree which springs forth from Mount Sinai, containing oil and sauce for those that eat. 20 And verily in the cattle for you is a lesson. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are advantages many, and of them ye eat. 21 And you are carried on them and on boats. 22
