The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The believers must (eventually) win through,- 1 those who, in their Prayers, humble themselves; 2 And those who from everything vain turn away. 3 and at almsgiving are active 4 and restrain their carnal desires 5 except with their wives, and what their right hands possess -- for then they are free from blame, 6 (but whosoever seeks after more than that, those are the transgressors) 7 And those who keep proper regard for their trusts and their pledges. 8 And who pay heed to their prayers. 9 Such are the inheritors 10 Heirs of Paradise, they shall abide in it forever. 11 We created man of an extraction of clay, 12 then We made him into a drop of life-germ, then We placed it in a safe depository, 13 The living germ, then, was turned into a shapeless lump of flesh from which bones were formed. The bones, then, were covered with flesh. At this stage, We caused it to become another creature. All blessings belong to God, the best Creator. 14 Then indeed, after that you are to die. 15 Then you will be raised up again on the Resurrection Day. 16 And assuredly We created above you seven paths, and of the creation We have not been neglectful. 17 And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away. 18 With it, We produced for you gardens of palms and vines, yielding abundant fruit for you to eat. 19 as well as a tree that issues from [the lands adjoining] Mount Sinai, yielding oil and relish for all to eat. 20 And indeed there is also a lesson for you in cattle. We provide you with drink out of what they have in their bellies; and you have many other benefits in them: you eat of them, 21 And you are carried on them and on boats. 22
