The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Blissful are the believers 1 They who are during their prayer humbly submissive 2 And they who turn away from ill speech 3 And those who for the sake of purification are doers. 4 who guard their privates, 5 except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. 6 But whoever seeks to go beyond that, these are they that exceed the limits; 7 Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants; 8 and those who attend to their prayers; 9 They are the inheritors. 10 who shall inherit Paradise therein dwelling forever. 11 We created man from an essence of clay, 12 and then We cause him to remain as a drop of sperm in [the wombs] firm keeping, 13 Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create! 14 After that, at length ye will die 15 and you will be brought back to life again on the Day of Resurrection. 16 And We have created above you seven paths, and We are never unmindful of creation. 17 And We send down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We cause it to settle in the earth, and most surely We are able to carry it away. 18 And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat. 19 as well as a tree that issues from [the lands adjoining] Mount Sinai, yielding oil and relish for all to eat. 20 In the cattle, too, is a lesson for you. We let you drink of that which is in their bellies, and there are many benefits in them for you, and you eat of them, 21 and upon them, and on the ships, you are borne. 22
