And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which you are promised. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is nothing but a man who has forged against Allah a lie, we will never believe him' 38 He said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me." 39 God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret." 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after another; whenever there came to a people their apostle, they called him a liar, so We made some of them follow others and We made them stories; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
