And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret." 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
