And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 After them We produced other generations 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after another; whenever there came to a people their apostle, they called him a liar, so We made some of them follow others and We made them stories; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
