And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 If you follow a mortal like yourselves you will certainly be lost. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! 37 He is nothing but a man who has forged against Allah a lie, we will never believe him' 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they denied them – therefore became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
