And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ Away! away with that wherewith ye are promised; 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
