And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can go before its term ends nor stay back. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
