Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, who cried lies to the encounter of the world to come, and to whom We had given ease in the present' life, 'This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 He is only a man who hath invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to put faith in him. 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
