The chiefs of the people who did not believe and denied the life to come, though We had given them good things of this life to enjoy, (said): "He is only a mortal like you. He eats as you do, and drinks as you drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ How far-fetched what you are promised; 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 He answered: "A short while, and they shall be repenting." 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 After them We produced other generations 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
