And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There exists only our present life: we die and we live [but once], and shall never be raised up again. 37 This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says." 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 We then sent our Noble Messengers, one after another; whenever a nation’s Noble Messenger came to it they denied him, We therefore united the succeeding with the old, and made them history; so far removed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
