And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 He answered: "A short while, and they shall be repenting." 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. 44 Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
