And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 if you obey a human being just like yourselves, then you will surely be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they denied them – therefore became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And We made Mary's son, and his mother, a Sign, and We gave them refuge on a lofty ground, a peaceful site with springs flowing in it. 50
