And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and called the meeting of the hereafter a lie, and whom We had given plenty to enjoy in this world's life, said: This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat from and drinking of what you drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
