And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 "If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, then verily! You indeed would be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 He said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me." 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 And then the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them, justly and unavoidably, and We caused them to become as the flotsam of dead leaves and the scum borne on the surface of a torrent: and so - away with those evildoing folk! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people. 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 So they denied them – therefore became of those who were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
