'O Messengers, eat of the good things and do righteousness; surely I know the things you do. 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Think they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We provide them 55 We are busy lavishing on them all kinds of good? Nay, they do not perceive the reality of the matter. 56 Surely those who live in awe of their Lord, 57 And those who believe in the revelations of their Lord, 58 And those who join not anyone (in worship) as partners with their Lord; 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race. 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a Book with Us which speaks the truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 In fact, the hearts of the unbelievers are in the dark because of their ignorance of real virtue; they act against it. 63 Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help. 64 (We shall say): 'Do not groan today, surely you shall receive no help from Us' 65 For when My revelations were read out to you, you turned back on your heels and fled 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Have they, then, never tried to understand this word [of God]? Or has there [now] come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old? 68 Or did they not recognise their Messenger and so denied him? 69 Do they say he is possessed? Rather he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth. 70 If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition. 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 And indeed, you invite them to a straight path. 73 And indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviated from the Straight Path. 74 ۞ Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy. 75 Already We have seized them with the punishment, but they neither humbled themselves to their Lord, nor did they beseech Him, 76 until We opened the gate of greater torment (death) and they suddenly found themselves in despair. 77
