O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 And lo! this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, so keep your duty unto Me. 52 But their nations broke their tasks into pieces; every group happy with what it has. 53 (Muhammad), leave them alone in their dark ignorance for an appointed time. 54 Do they think that by increasing their wealth and children 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Indeed those who are overwhelmed due to the fear of their Lord – 57 who believe in the verses of their Lord; 58 and who do not ascribe divinity to aught but their Sustainer, 59 and those who give what they give, their hearts quaking that they are returning to their Lord -- 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 We charge not any soul save to its capacity, and with Us is a Book speaking truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in perplexity as to this, and they have deeds besides that that they are doing. 63 until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 For when My revelations were read out to you, you turned back on your heels and fled 66 In arrogance; talking nonsense about the Quran, and left him like one telling fables by night. 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him? 69 Or do they say: "There is madness in him"? Nay, he has brought them the truth - and the truth do most of them detest! 70 And were the truth to follow their desires there would have been corrupted the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is therein. Aye! We have come to them with their admonition; so it is from their admonition that they turn away. 71 Or dost thou ask of them (O Muhammad) any tribute? But the bounty of thy Lord is better, for He is Best of all who make provision. 72 And most surely you invite them to a right way. 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed their afflictions, they would still persist in their insolence, blindly wandering. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 until, when We open against them a door of terrible chastisement, lo, they are sore confounded at it. 77
