O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 “And indeed this religion of yours is one religion only and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me.” 52 Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures; each band in that which is with them rejoicing. 53 (Muhammad), leave them alone in their dark ignorance for an appointed time. 54 Do they think that in giving them wealth and children 55 We are hastening to reward them for good deeds? No. They do not comprehend. 56 Verily those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 who believe in the revelations of their Lord, 58 And those who do not ascribe any partner to their Lord – 59 And those who give whatsoever they give, while their hearts are anxious that unto their Lord they are to be returners. 60 it is these who hasten to do good works and vie in so doing with one another. 61 We do not lay a burden on anyone beyond his capacity. We have a Book with Us that speaks the truth (about everyone); and they shall in no wise be wronged. 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan. 64 Invoke not loudly this day! Certainly, you shall not be helped by Us. 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 “Priding yourself in serving the Sacred Mosque; at night you utter indecent stories in it, while discarding the truth.” 67 Have they not pondered the Word, or hath that come unto them which came not unto their fathers of old? 68 Or is it that they have not recognized their Apostle, so that they deny him? 69 Or, say they: in him is madness? O Aye he brought them the truth, and most of them to the truth are averse. 70 If truth had followed their whims and desires, heavens and earth and all that lives in them would have been brought to ruin. Rather We have brought them their Reminder. Yet they keep avoiding their Reminder. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 You are surely calling them to the right path. 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating. 74 ۞ Even if We were to grant them mercy and rescue them from hardship, they would still blindly persist in their rebellion. 75 Already We have seized them with the punishment, but they neither humbled themselves to their Lord, nor did they beseech Him, 76 Until when We open upon them a door of severe chastisement, lo! they are in despair at it. 77
