'O Messengers, eat of the good things and do righteousness; surely I know the things you do. 51 And surely this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, therefore be careful (of your duty) to Me. 52 But they (who claim to follow you) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]. 53 Therefore leave them in their overwhelming ignorance till 54 Do they think that by increasing their wealth and children 55 We are hastening them on to good things? Aye! they perceive not. 56 Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 and those who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 who associate none with their Lord, 59 who spend their property for the cause of God, and whose hearts are afraid of their return 60 These are hastening on to good, and they are therein foremost. 61 And we task not any soul beyond its scope, and with Us is a Record which speaketh the truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, their hearts are in overwhelming ignorance with respect to it and they have besides this other deeds which they do. 63 Till, when We seize with the chastisement the ones of them that live at ease, behold, they groan. 64 (We shall say): 'Do not groan today, surely you shall receive no help from Us' 65 My verses were recited to you, but you turned upon your heels, 66 in arrogance, as if you were abandoning a story-teller. 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or is it that they did not recognise their Noble Messenger, therefore they consider him alien? 69 Or say they: "There is madness in him?" Nay, but he brought them the truth [i.e. "(A) Tauhid: Worshipping Allah Alone in all aspects (B) The Quran (C) The religion of Islam,"] but most of them (the disbelievers) are averse to the truth. 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 You are surely calling them to the right path. 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 Already We have seized them with the punishment, but they neither humbled themselves to their Lord, nor did they beseech Him, 76 when We opened on them a gate of severe punishment, they utterly despaired. 77
