Messengers! Eat of that which is good and do good deeds; I have knowledge of the things you do. 51 And lo! this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, so keep your duty unto Me. 52 But they (who claim to follow you) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 What, do they think that We succour them with of wealth and children, 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord 57 And those who believe in the communications of their Lord, 58 And those who ascribe not partners unto their Lord, 59 and those who give what they give, their hearts quaking that they are returning to their Lord -- 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 But their hearts are in confused ignorance of this; and there are, besides that, deeds of theirs, which they will (continue) to do,- 63 But when We will strike with torment those (unbelievers) who are rich, they will start to cry for help. 64 Cry not for succor this day; surely you shall not be given help from Us. 65 For when My revelations were read out to you, you turned back on your heels and fled 66 [and,] impelled by your arrogance, you would talk senselessly far into the night." 67 Was it that you did not give any thought to it (the Quran)? Was it different from what was revealed to your fathers? 68 Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him? 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 Were the Truth to follow their desires, the order of the heavens and the earth and those who dwell in them would have been ruined. Nay, the fact is that We have brought to them their own remembrance; and yet it is from their own remembrance that they are turning away. 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 And most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter are deviating from the way. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed their afflictions, they would still persist in their insolence, blindly wandering. 75 And already We overtook them with chastisement, but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves. 76 Until when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair. 77
