[Allah said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed, I, of what you do, am Knowing. 51 And surely this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, therefore be careful (of your duty) to Me. 52 But people later cut up their religion into bits, each group rejoicing in what they have. 53 But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons, 55 We are hastening them on to good things? Aye! they perceive not. 56 Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord 57 and believe in His messages 58 And those who do not associate (aught) with their Lord, 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 We do not impose on any soul what is beyond its capacity. We have the Book which speaks the truth and no injustice will be done to it. 62 On the contrary, their hearts are in neglect of this and their works are different than those of the believers, the works that they are doing. 63 But when We seize with the punishment those of them that live in ease, they groan. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels, 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him? 69 Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth. 70 Had the truth followed their caprices, the heavens and the earth and whosoever in them is had surely corrupted. Nay, We brought them their Remembrance, but from their Remembrance they turned. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 And certainly, you (O Muhammad SAW) call them to a Straight Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism). 73 And most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter are deviating from the way. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 until We opened upon them the door of a severe chastisement. Then lo, in this state they become utterly despaired of any good. 77
