'O Messengers, eat of the good things and do righteousness; surely I know the things you do. 51 Your nation is but one nation, and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me. 52 But they cut off their religion among themselves into sects, each part rejoicing in that which is with them. 53 Wherefore leave thou them in their bewilderment for a season. 54 Do they fancy that Our continuing to give them wealth and children (means) that 55 We are busy lavishing on them all kinds of good? Nay, they do not perceive the reality of the matter. 56 Only those who are, out of fear of Him, humble before their Lord, 57 and who believe in their Sustainer's messages, 58 Who do not associate any one with their Lord, 59 And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord - 60 These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race. 61 We do not impose on any soul what is beyond its capacity. We have the Book which speaks the truth and no injustice will be done to it. 62 But their hearts are heedless of this. Moreover, there are other deeds besides this which they do. 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 and arrogantly mocked and reviled them. 67 Have they, then, never tried to understand this word [of God]? Or has there [now] come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old? 68 Or is it that they were unaware of their Messenger and were therefore repelled by him for he was a stranger to them? 69 or you said that he is possessed by satan? In fact, he has brought you the truth, but most of you dislike it. 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 And most surely you invite them to a right way. 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way. 74 ۞ And if We have mercy upon them and remove the calamity which has befallen them, they would still stubbornly persist, wandering in their rebellion. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein! 77
