The saying of (all true) believers when they appeal unto Allah and His messenger to judge between them is only that they say: We hear and we obey. And such are the successful. 51 Those who obey Allah and His Messenger, and fear Allah, and have awe of Him, shall be the winners. 52 ۞ Now [as for those half-hearted ones,] they do swear by God with their most solemn oaths that if thou [O Apostle] shouldst ever bid them to do so, they would most certainly go forth [and sacrifice themselves]. Say: "Swear not! Reasonable compliance [with God's message is all that is required of you]. Verily, God is aware of all that you do!" 53 Say to them, "Obey God and His Messenger. If you turn away, the Messenger and the people will each be responsible for their own obligations. If you follow the Messenger, you will have the right guidance. The responsibility of the Messenger is only to preach." 54 Allah has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their religion, that which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islam). And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this, they are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). 55 Establish the prayers, pay the charity, and obey the Messenger, in order to have mercy. 56 Think not that the disbelievers can escape in the land. Fire will be their home - a hapless journey's end! 57
