The Statute Book (Al-Furqaan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Most Auspicious is He Who has sent down the Furqan (the Criterion – the Holy Qur’an) upon His chosen bondman for him to be a Herald of Warning to the entire world. (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – is the Prophet towards all mankind.) 1 to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and He has not taken to Him a son, and He has no associate in the Kingdom; and He created every thing, then He ordained it very exactly. 2 Yet they choose apart from Him gods who have not created any thing and have themselves been created, who possess no power over their loss or gain, or their death or life or being raised to life again. 3 But the misbelievers say: "Naught is this but a lie which he has forged, and others have helped him at it." In truth it is they who have put forward an iniquity and a falsehood. 4 And they say: fables of the ancients which he hath had written down, so they are dictated unto him, morning and evening. 5 Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed by He who knows [every] secret within the heavens and the earth. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving and Merciful." 6 They also say: 'How is it that this Messenger eats food and walks about the markets? Why has no angel been sent down with him to warn us? 7 Or a treasure should have been sent down to him, or he should have had a garden from which to eat." The wrongdoers say, "You are surely following a man who is bewitched." 8 See what kinds of comparisons they make for thee! But they have gone astray, and never a way will they be able to find! 9
