The Statute Book (Al-Furqaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Blessed is He Who hath revealed unto His slave the Criterion (of right and wrong), that he may be a warner to the peoples. 1 Sovereign of the heavens and the earth, who has begotten no children and who has no partner in His sovereignty, it is He who has created all things and measured them out precisely. 2 But they have taken besides Him gods which create nothing, while they are created, and possess not for themselves any harm or benefit and possess not [power to cause] death or life or resurrection. 3 Moreover, those who are bent on denying the truth are wont to say: "This [Qur'an] is nothing but a lie, which he [himself] has devised with the help of other people, who thereupon have perverted the truth and brought a falsehood into being." 4 They say, "It is just fables of the ancients, which he has had written down. They are dictated to him morning and evening." 5 (Muhammad), tell them, "The One who knows all the secrets of the heavens and the earth has revealed it; He is All-forgiving and All-merciful." 6 They also say: 'How is it that this Messenger eats food and walks about the markets? Why has no angel been sent down with him to warn us? 7 Or, why has no treasure been thrown to him, or a garden for him to eat from' And the harmdoers say: 'The man you follow is surely bewitched' 8 See what likenesses do they apply to you, so they have gone astray, therefore they shall not be able to find a way. 9
