We verily gave Moses the Scripture and placed with him his brother Aaron as henchman. 35 and We said, 'Go to the people who have cried lies to Our signs'; then We destroyed them utterly. 36 And Noah's folk, when they denied the messengers, We drowned them and made of them a portent for mankind. We have prepared a painful doom for evil-doers. 37 And the 'Aad and the Thamud and the dwellers of the Rass and many generations in-between. 38 And We illustrated examples to each one of them; and ruining them, annihilated them all. 39 Our Messengers came into the town which was struck by a fatal rain. Did they (unbelievers), not see what had happened to this town? In fact, they had no faith in the Resurrection. 40 And when they see thee, they take thee in mockery only: 'What, is this he whom God sent forth as a Messenger? 41 Indeed, he would well-nigh have led us astray from our deities, had we not been [so] steadfastly attached to them!" When they behold the punishment, they shall realize who strayed furthest from the right path. 42 Have you seen him who takes his low desires for his god? Will you then be a protector over him? 43 Or do you think that most of them hear or understand something? They are not but like the cattle – in fact more astray from the path than them! 44
