Have you not seen how your Lord lengthens out the shadow? Had He willed, He would have made it constant, but We have made the sun its pilot; 45 and then, [after having caused it to lengthen,] We draw it in towards Ourselves with a gradual drawing-in. 46 And He it is Who made the night a covering for you, and the sleep a rest, and He made the day to rise up again. 47 It is He who sends the winds as heralds of His mercy and We send down pure water from the sky, 48 That with it We may give life to a dead land, and slake the thirst of things We have created,- cattle and men in great numbers. 49 We have indeed turned it about them, so that they remember; yet most people refuse all except disbelief. 50 And if We had willed, We would have raised up in each town a warner. 51 So obey not the disbelievers, but strive against them (by preaching) with the utmost endeavour, with it (the Quran). 52 ۞ And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas, one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition. 53 And it is He who created of water a mortal, and made him kindred of blood and marriage; thy Lord is All-powerful. 54 And yet they worship besides God what cannot bring them gain or do them harm. The unbeliever has always been an auxiliary against his Lord. 55 We have sent thee not, except good tidings to bear, and warning. 56 Say: "For this, no reward do I ask of you - [no reward] other than that he who so wills may unto his Sustainer find a way!" 57 Put your trust in the One who is the Ever-Living [God], who never dies, and glorify Him with His praise. He is fully aware of the sins of His servants; 58 Who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six periods, and He is firmly established on the throne of authority; the Beneficent Allah, so ask respecting it one aware. 59 When it is said to them: 'Prostrate yourselves before the Merciful', they ask: 'And what is the Merciful? Shall we prostrate ourselves to whatever you bid us' And it increases their aversion. ۩ 60
