Exalted is He who put constellations in the heavens, a radiant lamp and an illuminating moon -- 61 And it is He who has made the night and the day in succession for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude. 62 The (true) servants of the Merciful are those who walk humbly on the earth who, when the ignorant people behave insolently towards them, say, "Peace to you" 63 and who remember their Sustainer far into the night, prostrating themselves and standing; 64 And who say: Our Lord! Avert from us the doom of hell; lo! the doom thereof is anguish; 65 Indeed it is a most wretched abode. 66 who, when they expend, are neither prodigal nor parsimonious, but between that is a just stand; 67 Who do not invoke any god apart from God, who do not take a life which God has forbidden except for a cause that is just, and do not fornicate -- and any one who does so will be punished for the crime, 68 and on the Day of Judgment their torment will be double. They will suffer forever in disgrace. 69 Excepted, however, shall be they who repent and attain to faith and do righteous deeds: for it is they whose [erstwhile] bad deeds God will transform into good ones - seeing that God is indeed much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace, 70 Whosoever repents and does the right, will have turned back to God by way of repentance; 71 And those who do not give false evidence, and if they come across unbecoming talk ignore it and pass by in a sedate way; 72 who, when reminded of the revelations of their Lord, do not try to ignore them as though deaf and blind. Rather, they try to understand and think about them. 73 And who say: Our Lord! Vouchsafe us comfort of our wives and of our offspring, and make us patterns for (all) those who ward off (evil). 74 Those shall be rewarded with the highest apartment, because they persevered; and therein they shall be met with a greeting and salutation. 75 They will live therein forever, the best abode and place of rest. 76 Say thou: my Lord careth not for you were it not for your prayer; whereas ye have even belied, so presently this denial shall come as the cleaving punishment. 77
