HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 He said, 'My Lord, I fear they will cry me lies, 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 And they have a charge (of murder) against me. So I fear that they will kill me." 14 He said: 'Never so, go both of you with Our signs; We shall be with you, listening 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 Fir'awn said: brought we not thee up amongst us as a child? And thou tarriedst amongst us for many years of thy life? 18 And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates. 19 Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message). 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." 24 Said Firaun to those around him, “Are you not listening with attention?” 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 'He is the Lord of the East and the West' said he (Moses), 'and all that is between them, if you could understand' 28 (Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners. 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
