And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people - 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear and take heed?" 11 He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 "And when you both come to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), say: 'We are the Messengers of the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists), 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 Fir'awn said: brought we not thee up amongst us as a child? And thou tarriedst amongst us for many years of thy life? 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 Moses said, "I did do it and I made a mistake. 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? 22 Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds? 23 Moses answered: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if you were only to believe." 24 Pharaoh said to those around him, "Did you hear?" 25 [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason." 28 (The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated." 29 (Moses) said: "Even though I have brought to you something convincing?" 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 He cast down his staff and thereupon it was a clear serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
