And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?" 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent, so endow Messengership on Aaron. 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" 17 He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us? 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 Pharaoh said: "And who is this Lord of the Universe?" 23 Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 Said he, 'Surely your Messenger who was sent to you is possessed!' 27 He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. 28 'If you take any other god except myself' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison' 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white unto the beholders. 33
