HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 The people of Fir'awn; fear they Me not? 11 He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me 12 and "my breast is straitened and my tongue is not fluent; so send Aaron as well; 13 besides, they accuse me of a crime, and I fear that they may put me to death." 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 Fir'awn said: brought we not thee up amongst us as a child? And thou tarriedst amongst us for many years of thy life? 18 “And you committed the deed of yours that you committed, and you were ungrateful.” 19 (Moses) replied: "I did do that and I was in the wrong, 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 Said Pharaoh: "And what [and who] is that 'Sustainer of all the worlds'?" 23 He said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between, if ye seek to be convinced. 24 Pharaoh said to those around him: "Do you hear (what he says)?" 25 (Moses continued): "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers before you." 26 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 Moses asked, "What if I were to bring you clear proof (of the existence of God)?" 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
