When your Lord called out to Moses, saying, "Go to the wrongdoing people, 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 He said: my Lord! verily I fear they shall belie me. 12 and "my breast is straitened and my tongue is not fluent; so send Aaron as well; 13 And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me. 14 Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" 17 Pharaoh said: "Did we not bring you up among us when you were a child? 18 And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates. 19 [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? 22 Pharaoh said, 'And what is the Lord of all Being?' 23 Moses answered: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if you were only to believe." 24 Pharaoh said to those around him, "Did you hear?" 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned. 29 He said: Even though I show thee something plain? 30 Pharaoh said: "Then bring it if you are truthful at all." 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
