And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 (It was) said: "By no means. Go with My signs, both of you. I am verily with you and I hear. 15 go both to Pharaoh and both of you say to him: 'We are (each) a Messenger from the Lord of all the Worlds. 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Pharaoh said, 'And what is the Lord of all Being?' 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 (Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear? 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 Said Moosa, “Even if I bring to you something clear?” 30 (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" 31 So Moosa put down his staff and it became a visible serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
