And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 I feel nervous and my tongue is not fluent, so send Aaron with me. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they shall slay me. 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 So go ye twain unto Fir'awn and say: verily we are the apostles of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 Send the Israelites with us". 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Moses said, "I did do it and I made a mistake. 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. 22 Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds? 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" 25 (Moses continued): "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers before you." 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 (The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated." 29 Musa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
