(Recount to them about the time) when Your Lord called Moses: "Go to the wrong-doing people, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, 12 "And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Harun (Aaron) (to come along with me). 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they shall slay me. 14 The Lord said, "Have no fear, both of you go with Our miracles. We shall closely listen to you." 15 Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds: 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 (Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life? 18 And you commited what you did, and you are ungrateful!" 19 (Moses) replied: "I did do that and I was in the wrong, 20 So I ran away from you out of fear. But my Lord has given me wisdom, and made me an apostle. 21 "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 (Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners. 29 Moses asked, "What if I were to bring you clear proof (of the existence of God)?" 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 and he drew his hand (out of his armpit) and lo! it had become a shining object to the beholders. 33
