When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 Go, then, to Pharaoh and say to him: 'The Lord of the Universe has sent us 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 Yet you committed the deed you did, surely you are one of the ingrates." 19 (Moses) replied: "I did do that and I was in the wrong, 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 Pharaoh said: "And who is this Lord of the Universe?" 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 (Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners. 29 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" 30 (The Pharaoh) said: "Then bring it, if you speak the truth." 31 So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. 33
