Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? 11 He said: my Lord! verily I fear they shall belie me. 12 and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 (It was) said: "By no means. Go with My signs, both of you. I am verily with you and I hear. 15 Go, then, to Pharaoh and say to him: 'The Lord of the Universe has sent us 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 (The Pharaoh) said: "Did we not bring you up as a child? And you lived a number of years of your life with us. 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message). 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 Then he uncovered his hand and it was sheer white to the onlookers. 33
