And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
