Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
