Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 no caring friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
