Alshu'araa' 5 of 11
Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
