And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
