And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
