And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
