And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 “And forgive my father* he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
