And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
