And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
